Sean Carlton, Vice Chair

Position 1 Term: 4 Years 6/30/2025

Sean was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan but grew up in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains in Loveland Colorado. After graduating High School, his love of the ocean beckoned him to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara where he majored in microbiology, and minored in fun. For his 21st birthday, a group of friends went wine tasting in Santa Barbara wine country, and he found his calling.

After graduation, Sean moved to the Napa Valley and started working for Pine Ridge Winery in the Stags Leap District. His future wife Chenin started working there a few years later and they were married in 2000. Sean eventually became a Sales Manager, and spent 50% of his time traveling all over the country selling wine to retailers and restaurants. After six years on the road, Sean was promoted to Vice President and General Manger of Archery Summit Winery, Pine Ridge Winery’s sister winery in Dundee, Oregon and arrived in July of 2001. Driving to his first day on the job, Sean encountered an overturned semi-truck with glass bottles raining down a hillside, which turned out to be the entire supply of glass for that days bottling. He’s been putting out fires ever since!

During his time at Archery Summit, Sean and Chenin started a small organic farm and farmed 4 acres of cherry trees, as well as raising steer, lamb, and over 300 laying hens, and he’s had egg on his face ever since! Once again feeling the call of the ocean, they bought a small home in Pacific City in 2003.

Getting tired of all the travel and corporate shenanigans, Sean and Chenin started their own wine label in 2004, and quit their day jobs in 2006 and moved permanently to the coast. Getting concerned with the implementation of land use regulations in Pacific City, Sean joined the board of the Pacific City/Woods Citizens Advisory Committee in 2010 first as treasurer, then Chair-Elect and currently serves as the Chair. Sean and Chenin operate Twist Wine Company and Reversal Apparel and gifts in downtown Pacific City.
